Mixed media art piece
Work in Progress.
Since my plexiglass was recycled it was pretty dirty so I decided to give it a nice cleaning before I put any of my white paper on it.
Outline of metro image.
The gold frame was lacking a bit so I added these gold sequins I had lying around to make the frame pop more. I stuck them on with glossy mod podge, for an added shine.
I had bought these to do an art piece with them but I never got the chance to do it.
After I had cut the paper to my desired length I puzzle pieced them together to see what flows the best for me and decided upon which design goes on what paper.
Once I had finished all my pieces i placed them on my plexiglass and taped them down on the outside of the glass. I was going to stick it behind it but since I added the stars and sequins I thought it'd be best if it wasn't being squished on the glass.

Once the plexiglass was dried I measured out it's dimensions, 30x37 inches and then started to cut my mixed media sheets of paper to my desired lengths.

The picture I took as a reference for the Café.
The first sketch I made of the cafe.
After I finished the rough sketch I started drawing out the final work.
Materials used for the sketches:
Faber Castel H pencil
Eraser
Ruler
This is how my final outline came out.
After I was done with that I started adding colour, which is really my favourite part.
Materials used for colouring:
Prismacolour Premier double sided markers
Chameleon Colour Changing Markers
Artist Loft Alcohol Markers
Gellyroll pen in white for details
Copic Markers
Micro pen 0.5 Black
My sketch for the man going into the cafe.
After I was done my first piece, I decided to add these plastic coloured stars I had lying around for this piece to have more of a mixed media feel to it.
The first sketch I made for the saint-cat piece.
Reference image I used:
I decided to add a car into the shot because I thought the scene looked a bit empty. I don't really draw cars so this was a first for me so it took me a couple tries to get the dimensions correct.
But finally, after looking at several references from the internet, I had the car I wanted.
This is what the work looked like once it was all completed.
First sketch for the lady in Chinatown. For this work, I wasn't surer what the background could be, but my teacher, Matt Holland, gave me the idea to use the entrance of Chinatown.
This is what the sequins looked like after they were dry.
Once I started colouring it in I realized I didn't like how the frame was coming out, and I had no gold pens that I could use as a substitute.

Final design for the metro image.
Final design of the Chinatown design.
